The mission of the Spruce Initiative is four fold: to raise awareness, to educate and to advocate and to build community. We raise awareness through observation of and education about the environment. We seek to advocate for a safe and sustainable future for both our selves and our environment. We do this by being prepared to spruce up the planet by engaging in a a daily walk practise of being prepared to pick up a piece of rubbish when we are out on our daily walk and disposing of it appropriately. In addition we commit to the annual giving of the gift to the planet of a tree, in celebration of .Spruce Day, (January 5) each year. We advocate.for both the natural and built environments and seek to promote a sustainable and brighter future for our lives on Earth, one thoughtful act, one day at a time.  in addition we seek to build a community of like minded individuals by endeavouring to form an integrated green network of individuals and communities . Clean and green is our strategy.
